Overview: Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility

Welcome to our Unit on Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility! We have been discussing these topics throughout these courses, but in this unit, we will be explicitly focusing on the impacts of these topics on communities as a whole beyond the context of specific game designs or play experiences. We will be discussing the difficulties of addressing these topics on a structural and cultural level. We will also discuss the importance of cultural consultancy, sensitivity readings, and other similar practices related to the principle of “nothing for us/about us without us.”

In this Unit, we will cover:

  • The Paradox of Inclusion
  • Accessibility
  • Neurodiversity
  • Cultural Consulting
