Reflection Journal 2: Reflection Models and You
Familiarize yourself with “Reflecting on Experience: A Range of Models That Can Be Used to Prompt and Structure Reflection on Experience” from the Reflector’s Toolkit.
Then, answer the following questions:
1) Choose a model of reflecting on experience from your reading. Specify which model you are using and list its relevant stages of reflection (1-2 sentences).
2) Consider the #Feminism game you played in either the previous course or this course. Alternatively, you can choose a game you playtested by one of your peers. Provide a brief description of that experience (3-4 sentences).
3) Reflect upon your own experience as a player over time from before playing the game to now with regard to the transformative impact you think the game was designed to have. Apply the model you chose to your own experience.
- What stages in the model did you undergo?
- What types of reflection do you think you experienced as a result?
- What factors helped you engage in reflection on the themes of the game at each of these stages, if any?
4) Review the reflection questions listed under the model. If you were to design a debrief based on this model, which questions would you use?
- How would you adapt them to fit this role-playing experience?
- Would you use other questions instead? Be specific.
